Bedroom
- Strip your beds and wash all bedding using a hypoallergenic laundry detergent, including mattress protectors and pillow covers. If you’ve got a mattress nozzle for your vacuum, use this on your bed, too.
- Dust from top to bottom. Start with light fixtures and ceiling corners, then shelves, window sills, and skirting boards.
- Vacuum under the bed and furniture. Time to clear out those dust bunnies!
- Wipe all surfaces with our multi-surface cleaner, which kills 99.9% of bacteria. It’s safe and effective on everything from wood, glass, and plastic.
- Declutter wardrobes and drawers, and wipe them down inside and out. Anything you haven’t worn for a year, consider donating or recycling it.
Bathroom
- Remove everything from your surfaces and drawers.
- Spray tiles, taps and sinks with our Kit & Kin bathroom cleaner. Let it sit for a few minutes before wiping away.
- Use an old toothbrush to get into the tight spaces between your tiles, taps, and shower doors.
- Clean the toilet bowl, seat and handle.
- Wipe your mirrors with our glass & mirror cleaner for a streak-free finish.
- Organise your toiletries and skincare, checking expiry dates and wiping down bottles.
- If you live in a hard water area, tackle those limescale build ups with our limescale remover. It’s twice as effective as the marker leader, but without the harsh chemicals!
Kitchen
- Empty and wipe (inside and out!) cupboards, shelves and drawers, using our all-purpose cleaner.
- Clean the fridge by taking everything out, wiping shelves and drawers, and throwing out any expired food. Time to recycle all those old jars!
- Degrease oven hobs and wipe down the oven door – don’t forget the extractor fan!
- Spray and wipe all of your surfaces, handles and switches.
- Take out the bins, then clean the inside with hot water and our multi-surface cleaner.
- Sweep and mop the floors with our multi-surface cleaner - it’s non-toxic and safe for using around little ones and pets.
Psst… did you know that many of our kitchen cleaning products, such as our all purpose spray and eco-friendly washing up liquid, can be safely used for multiple surfaces and jobs around your home? It’s one way to make that deep clean a little easier!
Living Room
- Dust your light fittings, shelves and electronics.

It’s all about the finishing touches
- Freshen up your soft furnishings by washing throws, blankets and cushion covers where possible.

- Light a non-toxic candle or pop a few drops of essential oil on a cloth for a finishing scent.
- Pop a non-toxic handwash by your clean sinks. Our bottles are so stylish, they look - and smell - amazing!
- Stand back and admire your hard work!

FAQs
What is a full deep clean on a house?
A full deep clean goes beyond your usual daily tidy-up. It means decluttering, cleaning under furniture, inside appliances, washing soft furnishings, scrubbing grout, and paying attention to forgotten spots like light switches, skirting boards and bins. It’s the perfect chance to reset your whole space!
How often should I deep clean my home?
A good rule of thumb is to do a deep clean every 3-4 months, or with every change of season. That gives you a chance to tackle the areas that don’t get much love during your daily or weekly cleans. Think under furniture, inside your fridge, or between your tiles in the bathroom. If you’ve got pets, allergies, or little ones crawling about, you might want to do it a bit more often.
If you’re craving a deep clean but don’t have the time, you can spot-deep-clean certain rooms (like the bathroom or kitchen) monthly if they get heavy use. Effective products like our Kit & Kin multi-surface spray and bathroom cleaner make this so much easier!
How long does it take to deep clean a house?
It depends on the size of your house, how much clutter you have, and whether you’re doing your cleaning on your own or enlisting help. On average, a full deep clean could take you around 4-8 hours. To make it more manageable, you could break it down over a weekend, tackling upstairs one day, then downstairs the next.
In what order should you deep clean a house?
In general, it’s best to start your deep clean from top to bottom, dry to wet, room-by-room. Start by decluttering and dusting your surfaces, then move on to wiping and scrubbing, and finish with floors. We recommend deep cleaning your home in this order:
- Bedrooms
- Bathrooms
- Kitchen
- Living areas
- Finishing touches (soft furnishings, floors, adding scent)
How to deep clean an entire house?
Start by making a checklist (like ours!) so nothing gets missed. Clear each room of clutter first, then clean it from top to bottom, tackling surfaces, corners, nooks and crannies. Use effective, non-toxic products like Kit & Kin's plant-based cleaning range, and finish with a floor sweep and mop. Pro tip: play your favourite playlist or podcast to keep you motivated.
How to clean a house like a professional?
Professional cleaners might look like miracle workers, but they just know how to clean efficiently and methodically. They tend to:
- Use powerful, effective cleaning products (our eco cleaning range is perfect!)
- Work room by room instead of jumping around
- Always clean from top to bottom, and from dry to wet
- Focus on details you might miss on your every day tidy-up, like taps, skirting boards, appliances
Is a house deep clean worth it?
Absolutely! Deep cleaning your home a few times a year will help reduce allergens, improve your air quality and boost your mental wellbeing - as well as making your everyday tidying much easier. Even better, when you do it using our Kit & Kin’s eco cleaning products, you’re not just refreshing your space, you’re making a choice that’s better for your family’s health and the planet.
